In this case study, we discuss how we improved Health Futures UTC communications and collaboration solutions.

 

Background

New build academy wishing to implement an IP phone system to enable students, departments, teachers and administrative staff to log in and out of extensions. Health Futures UTC user profiles required different permission levels for calls, unified messaging and calling. The System must route calls automatically both in and out of school time. Integration with PA system, unified messaging, secure integrated wireless VoIP handsets and voice / video / collaboration on smartphones / tablets required.

Challenges

To deliver VoIP systems to Health Futures UTC via our partners XMA within a specific time frame and budget, implement during school holidays. Also, provided ‘go-live’ support and hand-holding to core members of staff on their return after break to carry out training and knowledge transfer to nominated IT, reception and admin staff. Set up and test messaging services, mobility, intelligent call routing and fail over.

Outcomes

The outcome for Health Futures UTC was an Avaya IP Office 500 Preferred Edition solution and the virtualised one-X portal. User applications include PC Receptionist Console, Avaya Office Worker and Avaya Communicator on iPads / iPhone etc. There were designed and installed over a 3 day period which included setting up security, dedicated voice VLAN, Avaya one-X portal, IVR for call routing, SIP interface to PA system and classroom paging / end of lesson alerts etc.
